Youthful Jamaica take on New Zealand in practice match
FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny — The touring New Zealand cricketers will continue their preparation for their three-Test tour of the Caribbean when they take on a youthful Jamaican team in a two-day game at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium in Florence Hall, Trelawny, starting this morning.
The New Zealand team arrived in the island on Sunday and have been working out at the venue since Monday.
Former Jamaica Under-19 captain Paul Palmer was last week named to lead the Jamaica Cricket Board XI in both tour games, including next week’s three-day game at the same venue.
The Jamaican team will also include a number of players who took part in the recent WICB Regional Four-day championships. They are wicketkeeper/batsman Horace Miller, openers Jon Ross Campbell, John Campbell, off-spinner Jamie Merchant, leg spinner Damion Jacobs, fast bowler Brian Buchanan and batsman Andre McCarthy, a release from the Jamaica Cricket Board revealed.
