IT was an evening of singing and relaxation at the St Andrew residence of Korean Ambassador to Jamaica, Kimo Lim, last Saturday.

The occasion was held to celebrate the completion of the refurbishing efforts at the St Martin de Porres Primary School in Gordon Town earlier that day.

“Several members of the Embassy staff graduated from the institution and rather than have the traditional press conference, I felt it better to have this more informal party,” Ambassador Lim told the Jamaica Observer.

The audience was made up of Jamaican and Korean volunteers, who had helped with the school repairs, Embassy staff, local group K-Lovers, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) alumni.

Once the big screen was set up, the music began and as expected, Ambassador Lim thrilled with his rendition of his favourite Jamaican tune, Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry. He was, however, outdone by Jinwon Kim, newly installed chairman of the board of the Jamaica Public Service. Kim kept the crowd going with his performance of a Korean tune It’s Love Because It Hurts. Members of the audience happily joined in singing hits including September, Barbie Girl, I Will Survive, and In The End.
