Kartel case postponed
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The perverting the course of justice case against entertainer Vybz Kartel and his two co-accused has been rescheduled from today to Wednesday, September 24.
Today’s date was set last week after attorney Tom Tavares-Finson complained about discrepancies between what a witness has in his statement, and what that witness had actually testified to in a related murder trial that ended with the conviction and life sentences of Vybz Kartel and three other men, in April.
Last week, Tavares-Finson told the court he wanted the transcript of the evidence given by the witness in the murder trial to help prepare his defence of Vybz Kartel.
Vybz Kartel along with Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler and Andre ‘Pim-Pim’ Henry are to be tried on October 27 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The charges relate to the murder in 2011 of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, over the disappearance of two illegal guns.
