It’s back to corsets with waist training
AFTER the birth of her son Aiden in 2012, Venice Anderson was determined to regain her once small waistline. Banding her stomach the traditional way with a girdle did not rest well with her, and so she searched and searched for a solution.
The credit counsellor soon came across ‘waist training’, and since October 2013, she has been offering the service to other women who want to discover or rediscover their waistlines through her brand, VenPosh Collections.
Training, Anderson said, is done using a latex corset, which is worn for six to eight hours. It subsequently burns fat from the waist, through sweating.
“Waist training is a gradual process of waist reduction using a latex waist cincher or corset. It’s also known as waist cinching and this practice came to prominence during Victorian times. Waist training requires dedication and devotion, it is not something that will just happen by occasionally wearing your waist cincher, and it will take time, it will also need maintenance,” she said.
“It means a lot to me when I see women cry and say things like, ‘I never knew I could look so good again’ or when they come with their husbands and their husbands openly say, ‘I never even remembered that you once looked that way or that you could go back to that size’,” she said.
With waist training, Anderson said the corset causes one to eat less. Wearing it throughout the day helps women to reduce their portion sizes.
“When you’re about to have lunch or dinner it is important to keep on the corset or else you will defeat the purpose,” she said.
Additionally, Anderson said the results will take time to manifest, but within two or three weeks inches will begin to disappear from the waist.
“The corset is an inanimate object; it won’t do anything unless you use it to do what you want it to do. The key factor here is you! The more you wear a cincher that cinches your waist, the more effect it will have. Waist reduction and reshaping require discipline. Incorporating a healthy diet, drinking lots of water and regular exercise will also help,” she said.
The sports version of the corset can be worn during workouts and Anderson said results are faster with this.
“The sports corset enhances workouts and provides good support for the back. It also helps to correct posture and improves the confidence levels of women as it will hold in the back fat that many of us struggle with,” Anderson said.
Anderson explained that the corsets are available in different sizes according to weight and height.
Apart from the corset waist trainers, Anderson also supplies women with butt lifters and herbal body slimming wraps that are applied to problem areas for 40 minutes, then removed.
The wraps, she said, are for persons seeking a quick fix.
“It works in that it burns fat from areas such as your tummy, chin, arms or anywhere that you may have a problem. Within 45 minutes you can remove it and you’ll see the difference,” she said.
