Cornwall College sweep Spot Valley
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Cornwall College swept their first-round double-headers against Spot Valley in Thursday’s ISSA Western Conference high school boys basketball competition.
Cornwall College won their second Under-16 game in a row beating the defending champions 75-29 before winning the Under-19 game 84-17.
In one other Under-16 game at Holland, Muschett High beat the home team 33-10.
In Montego Bay, Andrew Jonson scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Cornwall College Under-19 team in their massive win with three other players also getting into double figure scoring.
Christopher Muir scored 18 points, Antonio Spence scored 16 points, while Rashid Davis scored 12 points for the winners who led 21-2 after the first quarter, 39-9 at half-time and 60-13 after the third quarter.
In the Under-16 game, Giovanni Bailey scored 18 points and Nicholas Gilchrist 12 for Cornwall, while Shamar Bucknor scored 14 points for Spot Valley.
