Cornwall seek revenge in ISSA basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — CORNWALL College will be looking for revenge against Mucshett High as they clash this afternoon in ISSA Western Conference return-round basketball competition, in the Under-19 section.
Muschett High — last year’s beaten finalists in both sections — had beaten Cornwall College in first-round action played in Wakefield. Both teams are tied on six points at the top of the points tables but Cornwall College played four games, one more than Muschett.
They will also meet in the Under-16 section where Cornwall College lead with nine points, three more than Muschett, which have won just once and were beaten 73-43 by St James High on Tuesday.
Herbert Morrison Technical, which won both games against Cornwall College on Monday, will host Spot Valley High as the teams meet for the first time this year.
Spot Valley are the defending champions in the Under-16 section but are struggling, winning just two of four games and only one of three Under-19 games played.
Herbert Morrison Technical won all four Under-16 games played and two of three in the Under-19 section.
On Tuesday, St James High scored their second win and the biggest margin this season, hammering Muschett by 30 points (73-43). The game was played at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
St James led 19-11 after the first quarter and were up 43-25 at half-time. They were 64-32 going into the fourth quarter.
Three players scored in double figures for St James High as Romario McFarlene and Aaron Allen had double-doubles; McFarlene scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds, while Allen scored 20 points and 15 rebounds. Trey Brown chipped in with 18 points.
Deandre Stewart scored 19 points for Muschett while Akeem Baker scored 10 points.
St James will go after back-to-back wins tomorrow when they travel to winless Holland High.
