St James High seek semi-final berth in ISSA basketball
SPOT VALLEY, St James – St James High will seek to strengthen their hopes for a place in the semi-finals of the Under-16 section of the ISSA Western Conference high school boys’ basketball competition today when they
take on defending champions Spot Valley High in a return round game at Spot Valley.
St James are coming off a loss to Herbert Morrison Technical at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Monday, but will hope to beat Spot Valley for the second time this season after a first-round 48 to 31 victory.
Cornwall College lead the Under-16 section with 13 points after scoring their sixth win on Tuesday, beating Spot Valley, while Herbert Morrison are next on 12 points, followed by St James High and Muschett who are tied on nine points each.
Spot Valley are on eight points in fifth place and in danger of failing to qualify for the semi-finals, while winless Holland High are on six points after losing all six games played so far.
St James High had their two-game winning streak snapped on Monday, when Herbert Morrison who, finished with just four players beat them 60-51 at MoBay Cricket Club.
On Tuesday, Cornwall College won both games against Spot Valley — a repeat of the first round — while Muschett High also won both games against Holland High.
