MONTEGO BAY, St James — Early leaders Tomorrow’s People could extend their lead atop the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League this afternoon when they take on winless Montego Bay Boys’ Club at the UDC field starting at 3:00 pm.
Tomorrow’s People lead the competition with seven points from their three games, while Montego Bay Boys’ Club have got off to a slow start, losing both games so far.
Four games are down to be contested today with former champions Granville FC and Wadadah FC meeting at the Granville Community Centre, promoted teams Jericho Rangers FC and Salt Marsh Utd will meet at Watson Taylor Park and Village United host Violet Kickers at the Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth.
Tomorrow’s People were held 1-1 by Village United in midweek, but they should rebound against a Boys’ Club outfit who are slow out of the blocks and are the only team yet to score a goal.
Donville Cornwall is off to yet another fast start and has scored twice for Tomorrow’s People and will again lead the charge against Boys’ Club who were beaten 2-0 by Violet Kickers on Tuesday.
The game at the Granville Community Centre could be an interesting one between the two previous champions with Granville FC hoping to repeat last season’s feat when they beat Wadadah at home.
Granville FC are coming off a loss to Sandals White House, but were one of the best teams at home last year and will seek to continue this form.
Despite not being convincing, Wadadah FC have won both games so far without conceding a goal and could have the advantage today if they can build on that momentum.
Damion Reid, Dewayne Jumpp and newcomer Javier Peek could be asked to lead the Wadadah FC attack today against Granville FC.
Violet Kickers will be seeking to be the first team to beat Village United at home after the Trelawny team drew both games at Elleston Wakeland so far.
Violet Kickers, who were promoted to the Super League this season, got their first win on Tuesday, beating Boys’ Club and will be full of confidence as they travel to face Village United.
Nikoy Comrie, Kemar Irving, Andrew Walker and Ryan Binns will be expected to lead the Violet Kickers attack against Village, who have conceded three goals in two games.
Nicholas Falconer, Karlton Drakes and Romario Anderson have all scored for Village this year and will hope the familiarity with the Elleston Wakeland field will help them get the advantage over the St James team.
The clash between promoted teams Jericho Rangers and Salt Marsh United at Watson Taylor Park should be an interesting one.
After dominating the Trelawny leagues last year, Salt Marsh have found the going tough so far, losing both games while conceding a joint league-high five goals.
Jericho Rangers, the Hanover champions last year, are coming off a win after beating Holland United on Tuesday and will be on the hunt for their second win.
