Granville, Violet Kickers face off in Confed Super League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Granville FC could move into the top four of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League this afternoon when they take on last placed Violet Kickers in a rescheduled first round game at the UDC Field starting at 3:00pm.
With three additional points to be awarded for their unplayed game against Village United on Sunday, Granville FC could in joint second place by this weekend’s set of games.
They are currently on 13 points, from seven games and in fifth position and should be able to get the better of the badly faltering Violet Kickers.
Despite losing for the first time this season, Sandals White House leads the points tables with 21 points from eight games, two more than Savannah SC with Wadadah FC in third place on 18 and Montego Bay Boys Club in fourth place on 15 points.
Granville FC has scored a league low five goals, along with conceding just three goals, but four of the goals have resulted in victories.
Andrew Allen and Garth Johnson have scored two goals each and will be expected to lead the team’s attack today as they seek a fifth win.
Violet Kickers have not won in four games and are at the foot of the tables on four points but will hope Andrew Walker and Ryan Binns will be able to help them get a much needed victory.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Sandals White House’s perfect win record came to a halt after an 89th minute own goal gifted Wadadah FC a 1-0 win.
This was Wadadah FC’s third win in a row as they revived their hopes of making it to the mid-season finals.
Savannah SC snapped a two games winless run with a 3-1 win over Tomorrow’s People at Frome.
Nichodie Haughton scored his third goal of the season to put Savannah SC in the lead in the 20th minute but Tennison Jarrett levelled for the St James team in the 59th minute with his second goal of the season.
Michael Kerr restored Savannah SC’s lead in the 65th minute and Neville Morgan secured the points when he scored in the 84th minute.
At Long Bay Beach Park, Beaches Negril came from a goal down after one minute to outscore Jericho Rangers for their second straight win.
Kenroy Griffiths converted a penalty in the first minute to give Jericho the lead but goals from Anthony Campbell in the 35th minute and Kemar Dawkins in the 61st swept Beaches to the lead.
Damington Dohman equalised in the 63rd minute for Jericho but Julian Richards scored in the 88th minute to give Beaches the victory.
