All the ‘buzz’
THE Two Penyu-owned Buzz Nightmare sent a strong signal to his peers in the campaign for the upcoming native-bred three-year-olds Classic races. The signal is that he is fast and even at this stage he has class.
With the rarely used Ian ‘Dolly Baby’ Spence on board, Buzz Nightmare (Into Mischief – Queen of Battle), racing over five and a half furlongs (1,100 metres), flew from the starting gates and just kept going further and further away from his rivals without his rider even using the whip.
Buzz Nightmare, who was sent off as the howling 1-9 favourite in the field of nine declared, beat 99-1 long shot Gold Charm, with O’Brien White up, by an ever-increasing 14 lengths with Power Of The Cat (Richard Lunan) another length-and-a-half adrift in third.
The winning time of 1:05:3 minutes was very impressive for a three-year-old running for the first time.
According to his trainer Philip Feanny, Buzz Nightmare is a good one in the making.
“There wasn’t anything in the race to test Buzz Nightmare so it was just a stroll in the park for him. I expect big things to come from him as he is a really good horse and one for the future,” the 14-time champion trainer told the Complete Racing Guide.
Spence, who was merely a passenger, simply guiding Buzz Nightmare to victory, said that he had nothing more
to do.
“This Buzz Nightmare is a very talented racehorse and I believe that he will go on to something big in the future. It was like another workout for him as he is a very big horse,” Spence said.
For sure, the opposition that Buzz Nightmare faced was not the best of the three-year-old crop, but it was a victory which was indicative of a talented horse with much more scope for improvement. Only time will tell, but racing fans should keep their eyes firmly fixed and follow the progress of Buzz Nightmare.
