MONTEGO BAY, St James — Leaders Sandals Whitehouse are expected to continue their winning ways when they take on Montego Bay Boys Club in the lone Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League game to be played at the UDC Field starting at 3:30 pm today.
Sandals Whitehouse are unbeaten in their last nine games, including the mid-season final, but have managed just one goal in three of their last four games.
Despite that, they are expected to prevail over Montego Bay Boys club for a second time this season after beating the St James club 2-0 in the first round at home.
Montego Bay Boys Club are on 19 points and in fifth place, but are nine points out of a semi-final position.
They are coming off a win over Violet Kickers on Sunday, their first win in the second round, but have struggled to score goals lately.
Meanwhile, on Thursday Savannah SC outscored Holland United 3-2 at Elleston Wakeland to take over second place on 33 points, three more than Granville FC, while Salt Marsh United snapped a long winless run with a 2-0 victory over Jericho Rangers at Davis Pen.
At Elleston Wakeland, the home team came from behind twice, but failed to close the gap fully on Savannah SC who took the lead in the 13th minute through Ron Daley (11 goals, as they led 1-0 at half time.
Ronique Haynes levelled early in the second half for Holland when he scored in the 49th minute.
Ryan Daley restored Savannah SC’s lead when he scored in the 55th minute and Miguel Jones made it 3-1 in the 75th.
Holland would not give up however and Stephan Bramwell’s 85th-minute penalty conversion gave them some hope of getting a point.
