New venue for Karnival Countdown
AFTER a one-week
break, soca party Karnival Countdown
will return to a new venue come Thursday.
“We are changing venues to a bigger location where we can have more control of the set-up. We’re looking at the Constant Spring Golf Club in St Andrew,” Chad Williams, event co-organiser, told the Jamaica Observer.
The party series, which kicked off on February 5 was originally held at the Mahogany Tree Bar at Devon House in St Andrew.
“The first event was beyond our expectations,” said Williams.
Williams said he pooled resources with Kandi King of Karnival by Kandi to bring the event alive. King, who has tons of experience dealing with Carnival through her company, felt it was time for Jamaica to get the authentic soca vibe.
“I create travel packages for people wanting to experience carnival in Trinidad. Karnival Countdown is our attempt to bring that experience to Jamaica,” said King.
DJs Lantern and Richie Ras, known for their soca-inspired flavours, provide the latest hits.
“Karnival Countdown will showcase brand new soca music, the 2015 hits, for its duration,” said King.
To help the party series do that over the weeks to April 10, Trinidad & Tobago’s Dei Musicale will join the local DJs, bringing with them the freshest soca tunes.
