Flames, Spicy Hill seek to maintain lead in TFA Major League
COOPERS PEN, Trelawny – FLAMES FC and Spicy Hill SC, leaders of the respective zones in the Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League, will seek to maintain their advantage when the competition continues on Saturday.
Both teams are on top of the points table with seven points each.
But, while Flames can be overtaken by Duanvale FC in Zone 1, Spicy Hill are four points clear of second-placed Kinloss FC in Zone 2 and certain to stay on top throughout this weekend.
Flames FC will play away to Coopers Pen, while Spicy Hill host Kinloss FC at Georgia Sports Grounds. Both games are set to start at 3:30 pm.
Also on Saturday, Harmony FC hosts Clark’s Town at Bounty Hall and Classic United takes on Upsetters FC at Blackwin.
Two more games are set for Sunday — Wakefield All-stars faces Baca Star United at Wakefield and Duanvale meets Prospect Link at Duanvale.
Spicy Hill can increase their lead in Zone 2 with a win over Kinloss FC, which won the only game they have played so far.
Spicy Hill won twice and drew a third game, but faces a team that will be confident and trying to maintain their perfect win record.
Also in Zone 2 on Saturday, both Clark’s Town and former champions Harmony FC, who are still seeking their first win, will meet at Bounty Hall. Harmony FC are off to a poor start, losing both games played so far, but Clark’s Town are only marginally better, drawing both of their games played.
In Zone 1, Flames FC will face the high-scoring Coopers Pen, who have amassed five goals in two starts — same as Duanvale. But Flames FC have yet to concede a goal in three games. A slip up by Flames FC would open the door for Duanvale FC to take over the lead on Sunday when they play Prospect Links.
Duanvale have won both games played so far — the best start in the competition.
At Blackwin, Upsetters FC who have lost all three games played to date, will have things tough against Classic United who will be seeking their second win.
