MONTEGO BAY, St James — Patrick Green, the man who on Monday pleaded guilty to the 2012 rape of five females, including an eight year-old girl in Irwin Point in this parish, was yesterday sentenced to 40 years in prison when he appeared in the Western Regional Gun Court.

As part of the sentence handed down by Justice Martin Gayle, the 27-year-old Green — who has been labelled a serial rapist of a May Pen, Clarendon, address — is expected to continue receiving psychiatric treatment.

Green, who had been in custody in relation to several similar unsolved offences committed in western Jamaica, Clarendon and other sections of the island, was charged in January of this year after his DNA matched samples found by investigators at the Irwin Point crime scene. Twelve charges were laid against him as a result.

He was convicted and sentenced in the past for other offences, including rape.

Following the guilty plea on Monday, the director of public prosecutions entered a nolle-prosequi in relation to 10 other matters against Green, meaning those matters have been discontinued. Six of those matters were of a sexual nature.

Green was represented in court by attoneys-at-law Trevor Ho-Lyn, Martin Thomas and Chumu Paris.

The four females, including the child, were all sexually assaulted on the night of September 24, 2012 at about 10:30 after armed thugs invaded their house and forced them to a nearby open lot where the crime was committed.

Brothers Kerron and Sheldon Brissett were subsequently charged for the incident, but after serving a year behind bars were exonerated by the Western Region Gun Court in July 2013 when DNA results failed to place them at the crime scene.

The brothers have since sued the State.
