Walker leads, but it’s close
Leading jockeys Omar Walker and his main rival this year, Robert Halledeen, failed to ride any winners as Dane Nelson, Shane Ellis, Jevvanne Erwin and Aaron Chatrie closed the gap in the race for the jockeys’ championship at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
Both Nelson (Golden Bullet and Siempre Bueno) and Ellis (Fortuneonehundred and Nothingbutthebest) rode two winners each, while Erwin (Berranca) and Chatrie (Steve’s Real) had one winner apiece on the 11-race programme.
Walker still leads the race with 20 winners, followed by Halledeen on 18. Nelson in third moved to 17 winners with Ellis one behind in fourth on 16 winners.
Chatrie took his tally to 13 winners for fifth place, while Erwin remains in sixth on 13.
