Tasty Jerk

A food stop on our road trip to Westmoreland brings us to Border Jerk, a popular food joint for persons travelling through Mackfield, located on the border of Hanover and Westmoreland.

This busy jerk joint has been operating for the last 12 years and boasts its own style of jerk and in-house seasoning. “Our seasoning is made from all-natural ingredients; no powder seasonings are added to our mix, we also use a combination of pimento, sweetwood and rodwood which also gives a sweet flavouring to our jerk process,” Chef Adrian Stewart explained.

“Another key factor is that the coals used in our jerk process are made on spot from the same woods that the meat lies on; this ensures the same consistent flavour and no strange flavours from unknown woods,” Stewart added.

The location also boasts a fully stocked bar and a comfortable seating area, making it a great spot for a break while travelling or just to drive to and ‘chill’.
