United paint Manchester red
Manchester United moved four points clear in third place after dismantling noisy neighbours Manchester City 4-2 at Old Trafford. Ashley Young led the way as he netted the hosts’ opening goal and provided the crosses for Marouane Fellaini and Chris Smalling to head home behind a mediocre City defense. The Red Devils now sit on 65 points, one more than last season’s completed points tally, eight behind leaders Chelsea.
Chelsea needed a late strike from Cesc Fabregas to overcome relegation battlers Queens Park Rangers 1-0 in their West London derby match on Sunday. Fabregas’ winning strike was Chelsea’s only shot on target. Liverpool kept their Champions League hopes alive with a 2-0 over Newcastle at Anfield. Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen scored to bring the Reds up to four points behind Man City in fourth.

Barcelona suffers collapse
La Liga leaders Barcelona’s lead is now cut to two points after drawing 2-2 at Sevilla. La Blaugrana enjoyed a 2-0 lead after 31 minutes before Sevilla’s Ever Banega netted with a fierce drive seven minutes later. Barca failed to finish their chances; as a result Kevin Gameiro capitalised with the hosts’ equaliser six minutes from time.
Real Madrid brushed aside Eibar 3-0 at Santiago Bernabeu to pile increased pressure on their Catalan rivals. Cristiano Ronaldo and Javier Hernandez both netted first half goals, but the pick of the goals came from Jese Rodriguez whose impressive skill set up a neat finish on 83 minutes.

Juve stunned by strugglers
Runaway Serie A leaders Juventus were shocked 1-0 at Parma as the last place club registered a memorable result on Saturday. Parma scored the winning goal on 60 minutes through Jose Mauri’s first time shot from 18 yards. Parma was already relegated following declaration of bankruptcy.
Lazio has leapfrogged their city rivals Roma into second place after trouncing Empoli 4-0 at Stadio Olimpico. Captain Stefano Mauri, veteran striker Miroslav Klose, Antonio Candreva and Felipe Anderson all scored to finalize an important win.

Bayern inch closer to title
Bayern Munich are now within reach of the Bundesliga title after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 at Allianz Arena. Bayern manager Pep Guardiola named only four substitutes because of injuries but there were no excuses necessary. Robert Lewandoski scored twice while Thomas Muller netted one of his own to complete an easy win.
Borussia Dortmund lost their second consecutive match after falling 3-1 at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Their European football hopes has taken another hit for Dortmund, now six points behind sixth place Augsburg.
