Making steady Prohgres
With his witty rhymes and unique flow, deejay Prohgres is steadily moving up the dancehall ranks.
Along with DJ Mudslide, he has two new tracks on the market — Body Glue and Body Nuh Dead.
“Body Nuh Dead ah get a good forward overseas. Body Glue is doing well in Costa Rica, New York and France, while (another song) Friend for Life is also enjoying rotation here,” 22-year-old Prohgres said.
Other new singles include Hustler on the Purge riddim which also features the Vybz Kartel hit song, CT Scan.
Prohgres cut his teeth as a live act performing on community shows in his native St Ann. He has recorded for a number of labels such as Cahban Records, Hard Rock Records and Tropical Records.
“Right now, mi a push the music an’ mi brand to the next level. Mi have a good batch of songs an’ mi getting some buzz on radio,” he said.
Born Richard Gordon, Prohgres is from the district of Queenhythe and attended Ocho Rios High School. After leaving high school, he went to Cornwall Automotive CATI Mechanic where he became a certified auto mechanic.
He lists Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Bugle, I-Octane and Agent Sasco among his influences.
