JTA chooses new president-elect
HOWARD Isaacs, principal of the Moneague College in St Ann is the new president-elect for the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA).
The JTA, in a release Tuesday night, announced Isaacs as winner of the election, which saw more than 13,000 teachers casting votes between June 22 and 26.
The winner will be officially proclaimed at the official opening of the JTA’s Annual Conference, scheduled for August 17 to 19 at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay.
Other candidates who ran for the post were:
* Claudette James, teacher, Denham Town High in Kingston;
* Collington Powell, principal of Friendship Primary School in St Catherine; and
* Ansell Palmer, teacher at Lowe River Primary and Junior High in Trelawny.
