Double-header for Grey
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A double-header in honour of former Wadadah FC manager, the late Eugene ‘Big Gene’ Grey, will be played at Jarrett Park on Friday.
The late football administrator died recently after a long illness.
A team comprising former Wadadah FC players will play a Montego Bay eleven in the feature game after the current Wadadah FC team play fellow-Western Confederation Super League semi-finalists Granville FC in the opening game at 4:00pm.
Grey was in charge of Wadadah FC in their heyday when the club won two National Premier League titles, 1988 and 1992.
Under Grey’s management, Wadadah FC became the first club to recruit players nationally and set up a semi-professional system with players living together under the same roof.
The memorial service for Grey will be held at the St James Parish Church on Saturday, starting at 10:00am.
