STATHS to construct mini-stadium
Principal of St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) Dr Philip Wilson said that the institution will be embarking on an ambitious five-year programme by constructing a mini-stadium on the school grounds.
The plans include the provision of stands, changing rooms facilities and lights. He informed that more will be revealed in the near future.
Dr Wilson was speaking at the second annual STATHS Football Xtravaganza on August 8, 2015. This football competition for the Silvera Castro Cup (named after the chairman of the school’s board) has become an annual affair and is seen as a dress rehearsal for the urban area Manning Cup competition.
The participating teams were Ascot High, Kingston College, Tivoli Gardens High, Dunoon Technical, Paul Bogle High, Bridgeport High, Papine High and the hosts STATHS.
The two-day affair involved semi-finalists STATHS, Tivoli, Kingston College and Ascot. STATHS beat Tivoli 1-0, while Kingston College went down 0-1 to Ascot.
The final saw St Andrew Technical and Ascot High locked 1-1 in regular time. STATHS won the penalty shoot-out to claim the Silvera Castro Cup.
Silvera Castro, chairman of the St Andrew Technical High School board, presented the Cup to the winning team.
