Branded – Michaela Francis

Coca-Cola Brand Marketing Manager Wisynco Group Limited

Thursday Life (TL): How did you land this job?

Michaela Francis (MF): A friend of mine saw an advertisement online for the position at Wisynco. Having worked closely with the Wisynco team, she believed that I would be a great fit for the role. I also had some prior knowledge of the company and became more interested as I did more research. Ready for this bold new adventure, I excitedly applied. When I found out that I was being considered for the Coca-Cola portfolio, my interest piqued! As a marketer, I have always been in love with this phenomenal brand. After a few discussions and presentations, the journey to happiness began.

TL: How long have you been in this job?

MF: I joined the Wisynco team four months ago.

TL: What attracts consumers to your brand?

MF: Coca-Cola, being one of the strongest global brands, has an immeasurable amount of brand love among consumers. The brand continues to renew its leading role as social connector, and invites Jamaicans to get together and share moments of happiness. Coca-Cola epitomises love. Love of family, love of food, love of culture and a love for football. The brand personality fits seamlessly with our culture as each Jamaican can readily identify with Coke.

TL: Tell us about the Share A Coke campaign.

MF: The worldwide Share a Coke campaign has been launched in Jamaica and everyone is invited to share moments of happiness when they purchase 355ml or 20-oz bottles of Coca-Cola. For the first time in history, Coca-Cola replaces its iconic brand logo with 200 of the most popular Jamaican first names to make a unique and memorable experience through the act of giving.

TL: How can consumers participate in the Share A Coke activation?

MF: Consumers can participate by sharing a coke with friends and family. We have included some popular Jamaican slang on the labels, so consumers can also experience happiness when they Share A Coke with “babes” or a “linky”.

TL: Do you have any additional news you wish to share with your consumers?

MF: During the month of September, we will be creating Share A Coke Pop Up Experiences across the island where consumers will have an opportunity to spin the Coke Wheel and win cool Coca-Cola products and prizes. Also, if consumers bring two 20-oz Share A Coke labels to our Pop Ups, they will get a personalised Share A Coke label with the name of their choice. On Saturday, October 10, we will also be hosting a Share A Coke Teen Experience Party at the Barbican Beach. This party is gearing up to be the ultimate event for teens from across the island where the magic of the Share a Coke campaign will be experienced. Barbican Beach and Football Field will be transformed into a Coca-Cola Teen Hangout Spot; the perfect place to Share A Coke with friends!! Remember to open happiness and Share a Coke with Jamaica. Check the press for more details on how to win tickets to attend this event.

Grab a 355ml six-pack and Share A
Coke, urges Coca-Cola Brand
Marketing Manager Michaela
Francis.
Christian Millwood, sixth-form student at Jamaica College, tries to win a prize from the Share A Coke spin & win
promotional wheel, as Michaela Francis, Coca-Cola brand marketing manager (Wisynco Group Limited), looks on.
