Marco Polo creates a splash
Paint and water were the main ingredients that kept patrons on a high at the 6th staging of Marco Polo held recently.
Dubbed the Evolution, the paint and water-themed party saw thousands of patrons cramming into the National Stadium car park and dancing to the latest in musical selections.
Sound systems Coppershot, Hyperactive Sound, Chromatic and selectors ZJ Ice, Laing D, and Ikel Marvelus, held patrons captive as they spun rhythm and blues, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, rock, alternative and electronic dance music.
Promoter Marvin Lawrence of Lawless Events was pleased with the turnout of the event.
“At Marco Polo, we have been doing water parties for the past five years and for this staging we decided to take it up a notch and go with paint. As you can see, the patrons are enjoying themselves in the paint for the first time,” said Lawrence.
First held in August 2009, Lawrence said Marco Polo water party has evolved.
“Marco Polo has set the pace for what is known as water parties in Jamaica and the Caribbean. It’s a long time coming and we have learnt a lot. Our patrons are extremely demanding and we have always delivered,” he said.
Dancehall artistes Raytid and Razor B delivered pleasing performances for the Marco Polo crowd.
The next staging of Marco Polo is scheduled for Heroes’ Day, October 19 at Wata Land on the border of St Ann and St Mary.
