DOCTORS at the Bustamante Hos-pital for Children were last night trying to save the life of a one-year-old child who was shot in the head when a gunman fired wildly at a rival gang member in the Kingston Western Police Division.

The incident in the volatile section of the city’s west end has brought to two the number of children shot by gang members in the police division in the last week.

Police reported that 14-y-o Jazianne Cole was shot dead last Wednesday during a gunfight between rival gunmen from Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town.

Police said that they have arrested one suspect in connection with the murder of the teenager.

Yesterday, police said they received reports that the child was in his yard when tragedy struck.

“The report we received is that one man was standing on the road when he was attacked and chased by a man with a gun,” said one police source. During the chase several shots were fired and the child hit by a stray bullet.

Police have since vowed to capture those who are behind the brutal attacks.
