Known as a mogul in the Fashion Industry and the business world at large, Kingsley Cooper (KC) has continued to stun and impress us. His continued fashion and business ventures have shown impeccable results. Although quite a busy man, the Pulse boss found time to answer a few questions for us TEENage (TA) fashionistas.

TA: What is the Pulse group of companies? 

KC: Pulse Investments Ltd is a public company listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Its business includes fashion, entertainment, television, real estate, clubs, modeling and events such as The Color Festival, CFW, etc.

TA: What was the idea behind developing such a company 35 years ago? 

KC: That Jamaican talent can compete successfully with the best in the world and that talent based and creative business was viable in Jamaica and the Caribbean region.

TA: Why did you choose the fashion industry? 

KC: Fashion was an obvious part of these industries and was a natural fit. We are also involved in several other areas of entertainment (and non- entertainment business) as indicated above.

TA: Looking back now in 2015, have you accomplished all you hoped to achieve 35 years ago? 

KC: In some cases we have done better than we could have ever imagined. In other cases there is still significant ground to cover.

TA: What has been Pulse’s greatest achievement to date? 

KC: Pioneering, defining and developing a modern international modeling industry for the Caribbean. However, there are several other areas of note, such as CFW, for example.

TA: How does it feel to have such an impact on the Caribbean Fashion Industry? 

KC: Very rewarding. However, we cannot be complacent, as there is much work to be done.

TA: How does it feel to be such a defining figure in the future of so many young models? 

KC: As indicated above, very rewarding.

TA: What is the biggest challenge in being a part of both the fashion industry and the modelling industry? 

KC: There is no real challenge resulting from participation in both. They are complementary and in fact two parts of a single whole.

TA: What plans are there in the near future for the Pulse group of companies? 

KC: Continued expansion.

TA: Finally, describe your sense of fashion; what is your ideal outfit?

KC: A well tailored suit that is both classic and fashion forward. This may seem a bit of a paradox, but it isn’t.
