Sandals Business House Football semis on today
Defending champions Couples Tower Isle will meet NEHRA, while Gran Bahia Principe will clash with SADCo in the semi-finals of the Sandals Resorts International-sponsored St Ann/St Mary Business House Football Competition at Drax Hall today.
Couples, who have been an unstoppable force in the league all season, chalking up 32 goals while conceding just three, will play in the feature match at 6:00 pm against a NEHRA team which will not roll over and die, but expected to bring the fight to the champions.
NEHRA had a great season, finishing second in their zone on 15 points, just one behind Gran Bahia. However, they have been finding goals hard to come by. Couples will be led by top striker Mauracio Gordon, Gregory Tate, Dwayne Silvera, and Carlos Smith. Coach Carlinton Dodd is confident he has the firepower to break down any defence in the league.
The opening match at 4:00 pm will be anybody’s game, with Gran Bahia sporting five wins and just one draw, racking up 17 goals with just five against. Kirk Ramsay, Imani Beckford and Devon Ward are the standout players for the Gran Bahia team, with many touting Ramsay as the most prolific striker in the parish.
SADCo will enter the semi-finals brimming with confidence, despite a recent 4-2 loss to Couples Tower Isle. Strikers Segree Murray and Micah Terroade, goalkeeper Claydon Ennis, Kevin Graham and Marlon Buckley are the key players for the team many see as possible champions.
“We are looking forward to keenly contested semi- finals,” noted Danny Beckford, president of the St Ann Business House Football Association. “The standard has been very high and we expect some exciting football on Wednesday.”
