Elaine Thompson joins 100m action in Zurich
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s 200m silver medallist Elaine Thompson will be running in the 100m B Race at the Zurich Diamond League in Switzerland today.
Thompson, who sizzled to a jaw-dropping 21.66 seconds in the 200m at the World Championship, will match strides against fellow Jamaicans Sherone Simpson, Kerron Stewart and Americans Barbara Pierre and Jeneba Tarmoh.
A number of other Jamaicans will be in action including 100m World champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who should seal her Diamond League trophy with a victory today. She also promises an attempt at her own Jamaican national record of 10.70 seconds.
It could be interesting to see what time Thompson runs in the B Race following that dazzling run of 21.66 for silver in the 200m where she barely missed Merlene Ottey’s national record of 21.64.
