Davis cashes out of Chinese lottery
Rodney Davis, former CEO of Cable and Wireless Jamaica, has stepped down from the role of chief financial officer at DJI Holdings, a UK-based company involved in the Chinese lottery market.
Davis, who held the role since January 2013, decided to step down as he “felt he was no longer able to fulfil the demanding travel schedule of his role”, according to a DJI release.
DGI is a licensed and authorised distributor and promoter of regulated lottery products to the Chinese lottery market.
Davis will work with the finance team for the next few weeks as a part of the handover process. and will remain a member of the board during that period.
Before joining DJI, Davis was CEO and CFO of the Cool Group of Companies from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that he was CEO for Cable and Wireless Jamaica from 2005 to 2007, having been promoted from the position of CFO of Cable and Wireless Barbados where he was from 2004 to 2005. Before that he was the managing director of Ernst and Young Jamaica office from 2002 to 2004, having started the Jamaican segment of his career in 2000 as CFO at MGI Software. Previously his career was based in Canada where he was vice-president corporate devlopment at MDC Corporation from 1999 to 2000. His career started in mergers and aquisitions as vice-president of finance for Southam Inc, Canada’s largest newspaper business and in the early1990s M&A as corporate finance manager for KPMG in Toronto, Canada.
Davis is a chartered accountant with both the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica. He holds a Bachelor’s in business management from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
Naar goes far
Norman Naar is now director for government & enterprise at FLOW.
Naar’s career in technology has extended over more than 20 years, including leading sales teams and driving sales strategy. He began his technology career at IBM as an advisory client representative and joined LIME Jamaica in 2010 to lead government and enterprise sales and becoming head of sales in 2014.
Naar has an MBA with specialisation in finance from the Manchester Business School in the UK and a BSc in computer science & physics from the University of the West Indies at Mona. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Lyn moves to First Union
Sean Lyn continues to develop his career outside of the nightclub sector and is now marketing and business development manager at the First Union Group of Companies.
Previously he was managing director of Intuit Concepts from 2011 to 2014 and was a partner with Stargate Mobile from 2010 to 2011. Before, he was acting chairman of Nitetime Promotions from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that he was vice-president of sales and marketing for two major Kingston nightclubs — Quad and Asylum, both in New Kingston, from 2003 – 2011. He started his career as managing director and owner of Tropical Oasis, a bar and catering company, from 2001 to 2004.
Lyn holds a BSc in business, management and marketing and another in computer science, both from the University of Technology in Kingston.
