Study in Mexico!
The Government of Mexico is urging more Jamaicans to take up scholarships in the central American country.
In a meeting with Jamaica’s foreign minister Arnold J Nicholson earlier this month, Deputy Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Ambassador Flores Liera, highlighted the bilateral cooperation agreement through which Jamaican nationals may access scholarships for Master’s or PhD degrees, and to complete programmes of specialisation and pursue postgraduate research in Mexico.
The call for applications opens annually in June-July for study the following year.
Ambassador Flores Liera, who was accompanied by Cecilia Jaber, Ambassador of Mexico to Jamaica and Araceli Grave, foreign Service Officer at the Mexican Embassy, was in Jamaica for a one-day working visit.
Also up for discussion were the cooperation in language training and teacher exchanges, and the Jamaica/Mexico Bi-national Commission, scheduled to take place this year from the 24th-25th November in Mexico City.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Jamaica-Mexico diplomatic relations.
