Taylor banks on teammates for vital support
KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) — Newly appointed West Indies Women’s captain, Stafanie Taylor, says she is depending on the support of her teammates to carry her through her first stint as skipper of the regional outfit.
The Jamaican all-rounder replaced long-standing captain, Trinidadian wicketkeeper Merissa Aguilleira, to lead the regional side against Pakistan in a One-Day and Twenty20 International home series.
The day and night series will be played in St Lucia and Grenada, between October 13 and 31.
“Most of the players do have respect for me, and I definitely have a lot of respect for them,” said the 24-year-old Taylor, who in 2013 was voted ICC Woman Cricketer of The Year.
“I, therefore, definitely think that I will get the support of, if not most, maybe all.”
The One-Day leg of the Pakistan tour will form part of both teams’ bid to finish in the top four of the round robin ICC Women’s Championship.
The regional women cricketers are soon expected to assemble in St Lucia for a training camp.
