Horse causes crash along busy St Ann thoroughfare
ST ANN, Jamaica— A man and a woman were rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital shortly after 10:00 pm Sunday night, after the vehicle they were travelling in hit with one of two horses that was running along the busy roadway in Mammee Bay, St Ann.
Motorists coming from Ocho Rios heading towards St Ann’s Bay reported seeing the two horses running on the roadway for about 200 metres before the accident and many vehicles came to a crawl, as drivers tried to get pass the animals safely.
One man was also seen trying to catch the horses. However, the hospitalised motorist who was coming from the opposite direction (heading towards Ocho Rios) was not aware of the lurking danger and could do little to avoid the horses.
The car hit one of the animals, killing it on the spot before running off the roadway. Motorists rushed the occupants of the vehicle to the hospital.
The nature of the injuries of both people is unknown. However, both were bleeding when they were taken from the car.
