ATL, JUTC to battle for Senior ‘B’ League title
APPLIANCE Traders Limited (ATL) and Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will take on each other in the 2015 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior ‘B’ League final to be played on Saturday at the National Arena.
Both ATL and JUTC earned the right to face each other by winning their respective semi-finals at the Leila Robinson Courts last Thursday night.
The ATL aggregation held off GraceKennedy 40-38 goals, gaining revenge for earlier losing to GraceKennedy 37-36.
JUTC defeated Scotiabank ‘B’ 40-33 goals, getting the better of the bankers yet again after dfefeating them 38-28 in the preliminary round.
Goal-Attack Kera Christie led the shooting for ATL with 36 goals from 43 attempts, while Christine Morgan scored 33 goals from 42 attempts for Grace Kennedy. The quarterly scores for ATL were 9-10, 19-19, 31-28 and finally winning 40-38.
Meanwhile, JUTC’s led Scotiabank ‘B’ from the outset 9-8, 24-16, 33-25 before going on to win 40-33. Marcella Thompson led the shootings with 32 goals from 38 attempts, while Shadine Hemmings got 21 goals from 30 attempts for Scotiabank ‘B’.
Meanwhile, Scotiabank ‘B’ defeated GraceKennedy 42-34 to take third place in the Senior ‘B’ League play-off on Tuesday night last. For Scotiabank ‘B’, Shandine Hemmings scored 25 goals from 32 efforts and Tanisha Hibbert with 17 goals from 27 attempts, while Christine Morgan got 25 goals from 46 attempts for Grace Kennedy. The victors’ quarterly scorers were 12-7, 25-14, 36-24 and 42-34.
Meanwhile, XEROX Group got the better of Guardian Life with a close 34-32 goals victory to clinch third place in the Intermediate ‘A’ League playoff on Tuesday.
Aslo, Urban Development Corporation (UDC) clipped Sagicor ‘B’ in an exciting encounter 27-26 to take third place in the Intermediate ‘B’ League play-off.
