Five awardees for launch of MoBay’s business Wall of Fame
CHAIRMAN of Sandals Royal International Gordon “Butch” Stewart is among the five visionaries selected for induction into the inaugural Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (MBCCI) Business Leaders Wall of Fame.
Tony Hart, BD Dadlani, Ralph Smith and the late Joe Whitter will round off the five, “whose drive and determination made us worthy of the second conferral of city status on Montego Bay some 35 years ago”.
“So as we advance from the youth-like state into maturity, the Chamber, a long-established body of this community sees it fit to acknowledge the effort of those who have paved the way,” President of the MBCCI, Gloria Henry stated at the Chamber Conference room, Overton Plaza.
She was speaking at the media briefing for the inauguration of the Montego Bay Business Leaders Wall of Fame which will be featured at the MBCCI annual banquet on November 14, 2015 at the Hilton Rose Hall and Spa.
The Wall of Fame will be located at the MBCCI office, its website and in the town hall of the Montego Bay Cultural Centre.
Following the induction of the first five recipients this year, thereafter only one will be installed annually.
“For the first year, the inaugural honorees shall be five persons who will be inducted and thereafter one person each year. These honorees have been men and women who have helped to create Montego Bay business community and industries and shaped the economic landscape of the city and the parish of St. James,” Henry declared.
“The honorees would have demonstrated that lasting business success is usually based, not only upon hard work and a concern for the bottom line, but also upon a willingness to make unpopular decisions when necessary, a concern for the customer and a concern for employees and the greater good.”
