UDC seeking investors for Negril property
THE Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is seeking investors for the purchase of eight beachfront properties at Point Village, Negril, valued at $89.5 million.
The corporation describes the sale of the apartments as part of its divestment programme. Point Village, which is located some 90 minutes from the Donald Sangster airport and less than five minutes from the Negril aerodrome, is known as one of the more popular tourist resorts which also attracts locals visiting Hanover.
“Point Village Resort is a condominium-type hotel property consisting of 256 apartments comprising studios, super-studios, junior suites, one-bedroom suites and two- and three-bedroom townhouses,” the UDC stated in an information memorandum on the sale of the properties.

The complex sits on approximately 16 acres of land and is located at the south-western end of a reserved road, which leads off Norman Manley Boulevard in an area called Rutland Pen.
Priced between $6.7 million and $26.7 million, UDC is putting up for sale four studio apartments, three one-bedroom units and a three- bedroom unit. Amenities of the property include a fresh-water swimming pool, an outdoor whirlpool tub, three natural salt-water rock pools and a tennis court, according to estate manager for the UDC, Elizabeth Harrilal.
Additionally, three restaurants, four shops, three bars, kiddies’ centre, laundry facilities, strata office and service buildings are available to property owners.
The UDC has responsibility to acquire, manage and dispose of land in any designated area, carry on any business or undertaking for development and to engage in any other activity designed to promote the development of any designated area.
Currently, the government agency is also seeking investors for downtown Kingston with the development of a multi-storey car park dubbed the Northern Parking Garage — with 792 parking spaces as well as 10,192 square feet of retail shopping for UDC, Digicel and surrounding areas through a Private Public Partnership.
The corporation has also extended invitations for the purchase and development of 20 acres of land in Ferry Pen, also known as Dawkins Bog Farm or Bocca, Caymanas, St Catherine. The corporation’s planned investor proposal for the development of a five- tower multi-storey, mixed-use residential complex on 2.63 acres of land in downtown Kingston has also garnered a lot of attention.
