Business house divisional champions crowned
JAMAICA Urban Transit Company (JUTC), along with National Commercial Bank (NCB) Group, South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), and Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB), crowned themselves 2015 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Divisional Leagues champions at the National Indoor Sports Centre (NISC) last Saturday.
The BHNA Divisional Leagues came to a close for the season after staging its five finals and presentation ceremony inside the NISC.
Sabrina Spence of General Accident was named Top Shooter in the Senior ‘A’ League, while Victoria Mutual Group was voted the Most Disciplined Team and received the Jasnieth Harvey Trophy. Christopher Smart was named Umpire of the Year and was presented with the Andrea Reid Trophy.
JUTC, coached by Dalton Hinds, defeated the Clayton Sutherland-coached Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) aggregation 44-32 to capture the Senior ‘B’ League title. Charleen Grossett of JUTC was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the final.
The principal scorers for JUTC were Marcella Thompson, who scored 32 goals from 36 attempts, and Joy Saddler with 12 goals from 14 efforts, while Kera Christie scored 23 goals from 33 attempts for ATL. The quarterly scores for the winners were 11-9, 19-16, 33-18 before winning 44-32.
JUTC collected $30,000 for winning the Senior ‘B’ League title along with medals and the championship trophy, while ATL walked away with $20,000 and the runners-up trophy.
Meanwhile, NCB Group won by a whisker to defeat MegaMart Limited 38-37. For their efforts, NCB Group walked away with $25,000 and the championship trophy, along with medals. MegaMart received $15,000 and a trophy, while third went to XEROX Group who received $10,000 and a trophy. NCB’s Tracy-Ann Roboe was the Most Valuable Player of the final.
In the third-place play-off game, XEROX beat Guardian Life 34-32.
SERHA pulled off an exciting and pulsating 43-41- goal win over RJR for the Intermediate ‘B’ League title, while JMMB defeated the HAJ 41-28 to capture the Junior League title.
