Close quarters for karting
Sunday’s Jamaica Karting Association (JKA) meet is shaping up to be a fight to the finish as leaders in several classes attempt to solidify their points leads.
The penultimate event, race meet seven, is scheduled for the Palisadoes International Raceway in Kingston. Start time is 10:00 am.
In 50cc class, rookie Shane Chisholm is chasing Zachary Sirgany with 233 points to his rival’s 240.5. Things are a bit tighter in the 80cc class as three racers have a mathematical chance at clinching the championship led by Ryan Lue. Lue sits on 275 points, behind him Zachary Williams with 222 and Zander Williams, with 212 points. The latter two are within striking distance given the points available for the rest of the season.
Things are also just as tight in the bigger classes. Rotax Minimax is currently being led by Mark Moodie. With 215.5 points, he is uncomfortable ahead of Shane’s older brother Ryan, who has 212 points. Entering the picture is Senna Summerbell, son of circuit royalty David Summerbell Jr. He has a shot at the class title with his 195.5 points.
The remaining three classes could be considered foregone conclusions unless something out of the ordinary happens. Rotax Junior sees a major points led between the top two protagonists, Justin Sirgany and Marc Anthony Eaton. Sirgany holds 143.5 points to Eaton’s 108. Collin Daley Jr commands a significant points margin over Jonathan Law, 275.4 to 200.5. As he’s done for several seasons now, Rotax Masters is dominated by Peter Moodie Jr. He leads Mark Minott 273.5 points to 218.5.
