Man sentenced to 3 months for stealing toothpaste
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A repeat offender who confessed that his stupidity resulted in him stealing a tube of toothpaste was sentenced to three months in prison.
Collin Taylor pleaded guilty to simple larceny when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court recently.
Reports are that on October 22, Taylor went into York Pharmacy in St Andrew, and attempted to leave the establishment with a tube of Colgate Total toothpaste in his waistband. The toothpaste is valued at $390.
Prior to sentencing, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked him: “How many times you get in trouble for this?”
“Second,” he replied.
“Why you keep doing this sort of thing?” Pusey quizzed.
“Stupid,” he answered.
“What kind of sentence you get?” Pusey asked.
“Three months,” he replied.
“So do three more months now,” Pusey said.
