Retired cop vows to unseat Pickersgill
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Newly selected Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for North West St Catherine, Newton Amos, has expressed, in no uncertain terms, his confidence about unseating Member of Parliament Robert Pickersgill in the next general election.
“There is no power on earth that that little man can run pass me on election day,” said Amos, a retired police officer.
He was speaking at the JLP rally now under way in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
“My duty and my duty alone, is to send him into retirement and rid this country of this nuisance,” Amos pledged.
“If there is one seat the leader of the JLP can count on and put it aside for the JLP, it is North West St Catherine,” Amos charged.
Hundreds of supporters are now gathered in the square, waiting to hear from Opposition Leader Andrew Holness, who has not yet arrived at the venue.
