Stop blaming ‘Dudus’ for state of country, McKenzie lashes PNP
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has lashed out at the People’s National Party (PNP) for their “constant claim” that now deposed Tivoli Gardens don and drug king pin Christopher “Dudus” Coke is to be blamed for the state of the country.
“The only thing PNP can talk about is Dudus this, Dudus that. They are a set hypocrites,” said Member of Parliament for Kingston Western Desmond McKenzie.
McKenzie, while speaking at the JLP mass rally now under way in Spanish Town, St Catherine, said the PNP should tell the country about its “own” members.
“The PNP should tell the country who name “Bebe”. Who was Bebe? He was not an ordinary comrade, he was an executive member of the PNP,” said McKenzie.
“Bebe was the (suspected) mastermind of lotto scamming,” McKenzie added.
They [PNP] should talk about that,” McKenzie said.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Central Clarendon, Mike Henry, hinted at a possible date for the next general election.
“If she (Portia Simpson Miller) think December 10 is good, tell her I call it already,” said Henry.
While the PNP has not announced a date for the general election, political experts say the next general election is due between 29 December 2016 (the day of the previous election in 2011) and 16 April 2017 (within three months of the date of the first sitting of the new Parliament on 17 January 2012).
Henry says he strongly feels the PNP will call the elections this year.
He then reiterated McKenzie’s earlier call for party supporters to come out in their numbers to vote.
“I am appealing to all party members to come out and vote,” he said.
