Greenvale advance to Manchester KO quarter-finals
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Greenvale United secured the last quarter-final spot in the Manchester FA/Brumalia House Knockout competition following a 2-0 victory over Mile Gully FC on Tuesday.
Ricardo Ricketts opened the scoring for the visiting Greenvale side on 36 minutes, before Deron Morgan completed the win with a 67th-minute goal at the Mile Gully Community Centre.
Greenvale now joins the seven other first-round winners, led by defending champions Porus FC, in the quarter-final draw.
The other teams in the last eight are Major League champions Hillstars, Georges Valley, Ricam Academy, Plowden, plus the two newcomers, Technical Strikers and NCU President’s XI.
Technical Strikers clipped Comfort 1-0 in their first-round game, while NCU upstaged Major League runners-up Downs FC 13-12 on penalties, following a 1-1 scoreline after full and extra time.
