Pritti Shu puts best foot forward
ARMED with his nom de guerre and witty lyrics, emerging deejay Pritti Shu says he’s set to leave an indelible footprint in the highly competitive arena of dancehall music.
To accomplish his mission, he is banking on his latest single Crab Up Road.
Produced by One Way Records, the single was released a month ago and is distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital.
“Crab Up Road implies that I’m running the road… The hottest thing in the streets. Always meeting new people, especially the ladies, and leaving a positive imprint everywhere I go,” he told Splash.
He says he’s encouraged by Crab Up Road’s feedback so far.
“I am getting good support from the streets,” said the 32-year-old.
Born in Huntley District in St Elizabeth, Pritti Shu (real name is David Robinson) relocated to Kingston in his teens where he attended Papine High School.
He said music was always his calling. However, his interest was piqued at 11 when he attended a stage show with an older brother.
In 2012, Pritti Shu got his break when he recorded High Roller on the Downsound Records imprint. His other tracks include Wutlis Cutlis and Protect Me Oh Jah.
“I don’t live by expectations in music, I just put my best forward,” he said.
