Cane River bridge closed
THE National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the Cane Side River Bridge, along East Palm Avenue in the vicinity of Smatt Road in Port Antonio, Portland, which was restricted for use by only small vehicles, is now closed.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says closure of the bridge is necessary as its load bearing capacity is compromised. Shaw added that the closure is indefinite and motorists and pedestrians should use the proposed alternative route.
Motorists travelling towards Breastworks from the direction of Folly should use Allan Avenue, Smatt Road, then onto East Palm Avenue above the bridge and then onto Breastworks.
The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from the direction of Breastworks towards Folly.
