Another Fury in easy romp
After finishing fourth on debut by 13 1/2 lengths to the impressive Dreaming The Code in October, the Fitzroy Glispie – trained Another Fury returned on Saturday and easily brushed aside rivals in the Pick 3 ‘Straight’ Trophy.
Ridden by Wesley ‘Callaloo’ Henry, Another Fury (He’stherealthing – Raging Fury) got off to a good start and with a couple of strides, quickly assumed pole position heading to the half-mile.
Although challenged a bit by Ocean Seeker (Linton Steadman) in the stretch, Another Fury responded well from the urgings of Henry and powered home to win by five-and-a-half lengths in the maiden special weight event for native-bred two-year-old fillies going over 1,300 metres.
A well-ridden Ocean Seeker held on for second position ahead of Golden Glory, under Aaron Chatrie, and Wartime, ridden by O’Brien White.
Also owned by Glispie, Another Fury covered the distance in a respectable 1:20:1 minutes after setting splits 23:4, 47:3 and 1:12:4 minutes.
“It was a very good performance by Another Fury and the time that she ran was also very impressive. She is a useful filly and I expect better things from her in the future. She finished good in her first start as she was about 13 lengths behind an out-of-class two-year-old and today (Saturday) among a moderate group, I was very confident in winning this race,” Glispie told the Complete Racing Guide.
Henry said that he was merely a pilot aboard Another Fury.
“The race wasn’t that difficult as I knew that once we had the lead turning for home it was going to be very hard to beat us. She is an improving filly and will get better from this,” Henry said.
