We meet again!
Barbican Football Club (FC) will be looking to complete the double when they take on arch-rivals Waterhouse FC in the final of the 2015 Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)/Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League at Stadium East Complex tomorrow, starting at 4:00 pm.
Barbican FC, who are the defending champion, will definitely start as favourites over Waterhouse FC, who they whipped 4-1 to take the JFF/Sherwin Williams Colourscape Knockout (KO) championship last week at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
The skilful Kenesha Reid scored two goals, while Rochelle Bryan and Latoya Panton got the other goals in what was described as a stroll in the park for Barbican FC. Waterhouse FC’s goal was scored by Shavell Martin.
The Charles Edwards-coached and Alicia James-managed team has been consistent all season, demonstrating their class and talent over their opponents. And with the KO title already in the bag, Barbican FC will be confident of securing yet another trophy.
Abbigayle Palmer has been tremendous in goal for Barbican FC all season, while Reid, Bryan and Ashlee Sawyers are magnificent in the attacking department, making them a fearsome bunch.
However, Waterhouse FC should not be underestimated as they will have revenge on their minds. Their team is expected to be strengthened with the return of players from the Jamaica Under-20 Reggae Girlz team, who were in Honduras for the CONCACAF Championship earlier this month.
“Our team is now a little stronger with some of the Jamaica Under-20 players coming in to boost the strength of the team. We will definitely be more competitive now, and I am looking forward to a good game of football,” said Waterhouse Coach Xavier Gilbert.
The winning team will receive the championship trophy and $400,000, plus other prizes.
Admission to the game is free.
