Petersfield FC, Salt Marsh seek win in Confed league

Petersfield FC, Salt Marsh seek win in Confed league

GRANVILLE, St James –

Petersfield FC, last season’s Westmoreland FA Major League champions, and Salt Marsh from Trelawny, won their opening games last week and are tied on three points in Zone One of the competition.Petersfield will travel to the Granville Community Centre in St James to take on two-time champions Granville FC, while Salt Marsh United are away to promoted Lucea FC at the Collin Miller Sports Complex. Both games are set to start at 3:00 pm.Also on Sunday, Montego Bay Boys Club will host defending champions Savannah SC at the UDC field in Montego Bay, while Clarks Town and Village United will meet in a Trelawny derby on the grounds of the Cedric Titus High School in the parish.The round will be completed on Tuesday with two games – Beaches Negril taking on Zone Two leaders Wadadah FC at the Long Bay Beach Park, while Sandals Whitehouse host promoted Reggae Youths.Petersfield FC beat Montego Bay Boys Club 2-0 in their opening game with Roniel Whyte getting both goals. Granville FC were surprisingly beaten 1-0 away to Salt Marsh on Sunday and are expected to rebound today, especially playing at home.Salt Marsh United had made an early impact last season when they came into the Super League and after their first ever win over Granville, will be seeking to take three more points against last season’s Hanover FA Major League winners.Lucea FC could be formidable at home, however, after holding the defending champions Savannah SC to a goalless draw away on Sunday and could prove equal to the Trelawny team.Savannah SC are yet to beat MoBay Boys Club as both games between the teams last season ended in draws.Clarks Town got off to a rocky start, conceding three goals to Wadadah FC in Montego Bay, while Village held a good Sandals Whitehouse team in Falmouth.

Promoted Petersfield FC and Salt Marsh United will both be seeking to maintain their winning starts to the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League when both play away from home this Sunday.
