DRAGON MOVES ON
Deejay Red Dragon (given name Leroy May) died at the University Hospital of the West Indies on July 31 at age 49.
Red Dragon, who was from the Whitehall Avenue area of St Andrew, helped put that community on the map.
His humorous Hol’ a Fresh, was a monster hit. Produced by Winston Riley in 1987, it paved the way for fellow Whitehall deejays Flourgon (Red Dragon’s older brother), Daddy Lizard and Buju Banton.
In 1994 Red Dragon had his biggest success with Compliments on Your Kiss which he did with singers Brian and Tony Gold. That song rose to number two on the British national chart.
