Best Dressed Chicken Salutes The ‘12 Chefs of Christmas’
The al fresco dining area of the Grog Shoppe Restaurant at Devon House in Kingston provided the perfect ambience for The Best Dressed Chicken ’12 Chefs of Christmas’ thank-you dinner, which took place Thursday last.
Hosted by president and CEO of Best Dressed Chicken Christopher Levy and his lovely wife Sally — who chose the venue personally, for its famously tantalising Jamaican cuisine — the event hailed 12 of the island’s top chefs for their participation in the annual ’12 Chefs of Christmas’ promotion, which afforded 12 lucky winners a gourmet Christmas dinner catered by any one of the celebrated chefs.
The evening commenced with cocktails at the Mahogany Tree Bar, where the Levys welcomed the honoured chefs and their guests, in-between sips of sorrel sangria. Smooth selections by the Dwight Richards band soon followed, setting the tone for the intimate affair — which saw friends and family members out in support of the honorees, as well as a surprise send-off for Qatar-bound Best Dressed Chicken Ambassador, Chef Brian Lumley.
The hearty Jamaican fare, prepared by Chef Cecile Clouson, featured herb-roasted chicken, coconut fish, sorrel-glazed ham, rice and gungo peas and plantains.
