Man accused of stabbing girlfriend 16 times
A man who was hauled before the court on allegations that he stabbed his girlfriend 16 times was remanded for psychiatric evaluation after the complainant told the court of her ordeal.
Twenty-six-year-old Orville Johnson pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding with intent when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The complainant told the court Monday that she was sitting on the bed when Johnson allegedly began stabbing her all over her body. The complainant alleged that Johnson did not utter a word whilst stabbing her and ignored her pleas for mercy.
The court heard that the complainant, who recently moved back to Kingston from Montego Bay, was allegedly in a relationship with Johnson for approximately one year.
“’Why you did something like that?” Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey asked Johnson.
“It was a small confrontation,” Johnson replied.
“If you call that small confrontation, I don’t want to see what you call large, and you said you never touched her. Duppy start walk in 2016,” Pusey said.
“I am not sure what took place,” Johnson responded.
He was subsequently remanded until his next court appearance on January 18.
