Rumble heads to Canada
Dubbed Canada Rumble, the event is set for January 23 at La Victoria Banquet Hall and Convention Centre.
Garfield ‘Chin’ Bourne, in an interview with the Jamaica Observer, spoke about the decision to stage the follow-up ‘clash’ in Canada.
“The key factor is to give talented Canadian ‘sounds’ a chance to have international exposure versus the regional visibility, which they have been limited to over the years. Canada is a big clash market with lots of selectors and sound system celebrities. However, the rest of the world is often amiss of their talent,” he said.
The competitors for Canada Rumble are Don Rankin, King Turbo, Outcast, Stepa Choice, Little Thunder, Brimstone Gold and Klymaxx.
Promotion for the event has started on social media.
“There has been a heavy social media campaign, traditional print, online and radio media coverage, grass-roots street promotions. Our campaigns have been geared to gain new sound clash fans as well as appeal to traditional sound clash enthusiasts,” Bourne explained.
The 2015 US Rumble took place in October at Club Amazura in Queens, New York. It was won by Florida’s Innocent Sound System, with selectors Dave ‘Dapper Lee-Thal’ White and Juxy Fyah.
