Ricam remain unbeaten in Manchester Major League
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Ricam Academy stretched their unbeaten start in the Manchester FA/Magnum/Captain’s Bakery Major League to eight games after emerging 3-1 victors over neighbourhood rivals Greenvale United in their cross-zone fixture at the weekend.
The reigning Brumalia House Knockout champions got by the below-par Greenvale at the Greenvale Community Centre with a dominant display, which yielded three goals in just over an hour.
Kashwayne Miller (17th), Kemar Ricketts (52nd) and Maxwell Robinson (62nd) were the goalscorers, while Jerome Forbes (70th) scored the consolation for Greenvale.
With the win, their sixth in eight outings, Ricam have regained top spot in Zone Two from Downs FC who are two points back on 18.
Former champions Alligator Pond remained within touching distance of the top two after a solitary strike from Romaine Samuda carried them to a 1-0 win over Comfort at the Comfort Community Centre. The south Manchester outfit increased their tally to 17, some 10 points clear of fourth-placed Villa United.
Meanwhile, title holders Hillstars FC continue to set the pace in Zone One on 19 points, with Mile Gully just three points back in second, following their last-gasp victory over Villa United. Thorn Simpson scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute. Mile Gully, led by a double from Alex Cummings, blanked Porus FC 3-0.
